The position of DIVISIONAL TRAINER – SERVICES (DTS) will design and deliver technical training for customers and field maintenance professionals for effective, safe use and maintenance of equipment within such stores as: The Home Depot, Best Buy, Lowes, Levolor and others.  Trainers will model core values and professionalism in maintaining a strong connection between the service needs of our customers and the technical skill sets of our Field Service Professionals.  This will be achieved through on-going Field Service Professionals (FSP), Maintenance Service Professional (MSP), Regional Service Manager (RSM) and Customer Care Call Center support training as directed by the Senior Vice Presidents of Compact Power Equipment.



  • Conduct field (Service/Maintenance) and support staff (Parts/Office/IT) technical training that reinforces company safety standards and equipment operational standards.
  • Demonstrate on-site equipment utilization technical support to valued customers.
  • Provide technical support and feedback and training to maintenance professionals.
  • Lead Quarterly Survey Process to assess technical skills and ensure appropriate training response on a regional level.
  • Plan and schedule, in conjunction with Regional Managers, appropriate training to address needs in specific markets and stores.
  • Assist with customer and internal equipment management projects, both hands on and documentation.
  • Proactively identify internal and customer training requirements and solutions.
  • Research technical data as requested.
  • Ensure availability of business critical technical information for CPES resources.
  • Develop and document training procedures.
  • Provide progress reports on training and needs to leadership.
  • Stay current with all related technical and occupational safety laws, initiatives and requirements.
  • Travel 50-75% to customer sites within the U.S. and Canadian region.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher / equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with industrial equipment commonly used in The Home Depot, Lowes and Best Buy. Such as but not limited to; Carpet / Wire Carousels, Carpet Cutters, Levolor blind cutters, paint shakers, pipe threader, radial arm saws, tile saws and mobility carts.
  • Demonstrated experience using parts, service, and operator manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to Problem Solve, including efficiency in determining solutions and communicating through proper channels to achieve optimal results.
  • Must have extensive experience reading and utilizing hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Capable of implementing best practices in transferring equipment servicing knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience conducting product knowledge training, including communicating effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent communication skills, including: influencing, presenting technical information to technical and non-technical audiences, reporting, and relationship building skills in internal and external environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills to effect change.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the U.S. and Canadian region.
  • Ability to climb equipment and work at heights for training
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Preferred / Minimum 5 years working in servicing, industrial equipment or related environment.
  • Preferred / Technical expertise with industrial equipment, including knowledge of hydraulics, electrical and mechanical components.
  • Preferred / Minimum 2 years’ experience conducting equipment utilization and safety training.
  • Preferred / Experience designing training and learning experiences for field based staff
  • Preferred / Safety discipline experience.




This position potentially works both indoors and outdoors during the workday. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be done by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.

An employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneeling, pushing and pulling for extended time periods, in addition to repetitive movements of hands, occasional lifting of up to (50) lbs and occasional work at different heights.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
