The Home Depot Rental operates in over 1100 locations of The Home Depot across the US and Canada, offering large towable equipment, tools, trucks and trailer rental along with on-site equipment delivery.  The large equipment fleet includes trenchers, chippers, mini-excavators, skid steers, aerial work platform equipment, and tractor loader backhoes among others.  With a large team of highly trained technicians, shop techs, and VIP Delivery Technicians and customer care associates throughout the United States and Canada.

The Shipping/Receiving staff ensure that all necessary parts, supplies, and materials are received and shipped in a timely and accurate manner.  This supports our field technicians in keeping equipment in rental ready condition and in delighting our customers.  The mission of the Parts Department is to keep our fleet in service at all times. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

This associate will lead shipping and receiving staff in providing timely receiving, packaging, shipping, tracking and processing of quality parts.  Maintain accurate inventory counts, and placement of incoming parts.

  • Ensure that shipping costs are allocated appropriately through the FedEx system.
  • Monitor the performance of vendors regarding on time delivery, quality of parts, and accuracy of inventory received verses the receiving document.
  • Ensure that merchandise is received, shipped and recorded accurately in Great Plains Dynamics.
  • Ensures that all warranty parts are returned to the manufacturer for credit if required.
  • Assists with managing the parts inventory system via cycle counts and location monitoring.
  • Communicate effectively with technicians and coworker to ensure accurate delivery and return of parts as needed.
  • Assign stock location numbers for parts inventory stock. 
  • Use FedEx and UPS shipping management systems to timely ship parts cost effectively.
  • Assist in investigating, evaluating and resolving inventory errors.
  • Resolve discrepancies found during receiving.
  • Assist in the maintenance of item information in our computer system.
  • Maintain updated addresses in UPS and FedEx.
  • Pack according to space, being conscious of shipping costs.
  • Utilize appropriate safety apparel and equipment when required.

Great Plains experience must be gained, sufficient to operate effectively, within the 90 days. 

Working Conditions/Fit for Duty:

Working conditions are normal for a warehouse environment, and may include sitting or standing for extended time periods, lifting up to 70 lbs. and repetitive movements of knees, legs, hands, arms and wrists.  (If heavier weights need to be moved, appropriate help must be used.) 


Job Requirements

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • 6+ months shipping/receiving experience.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Customer service focused

  • Basic typing skills


  • 10 key experience

  • Familiar with small engine parts

  • Effective leadership skills


Required Education:

High School or general education degree (G.E.D.)

Three to six months related education and experience.
